Introduction

Contrary to what you may have been led to believe, Salafis pay great importance to the topic of purification of the soul in the form of tasfiyah (purification and correction). Within this page, you’ll find lectures, posts/articles, recommended books, links to Islamic websites and leaflets.

Indeed, the believers strive to purify and distance themselves from the darkness and filth of Shirk, Bid’ah and Kufr and come closer to the light and purity of Tawheed, Sunnah and Eemaan, the path of guidance and success.

We ask you to reflect and not be deceived and beguiled by those who boast about “tazkiyat al-nafs” (ethics and purification or purification of the soul) yet when you look at their actions they’re the foremost in being immersed in sins, disobedience and heedlessness like listening to music (including nasheeds), singing (like naats and manqabats), dancing, being engrossed in watching dramas on TV, and they are also the foremost in holding innovated and superstitious beliefs like “hazer and nazer” and Prophet Muhammad being created from light, etc, as well as engaging in innovated festivals and celebrations like birthdays, death anniversaries, the Mawlid and Shab-e-barat, which they are deluded into thinking is showing love, honour, respect, etc, may Allah guide them.

If they truly loved the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) as they openly claim (and berate those that reject and don’t follow their practices and traditions), they would not partake in these innovated celebrations and festivals because the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) himself didn’t celebrate Mawlid, Shab-e-barat, his birthday, etc, so they should follow Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) in this. Those that loved and respected him the most, the Sahabah, radi’Allahu ‘anhum) also didn’t celebrate these events, so let us follow in their footsteps and stay away from innovations.

We also ask that you stick to authentic adhkar and dua’s as found in well-known authentic books such as Hisnul Muslim (Fortress of a Muslim) or the Precious Remembrance by Shaikh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymin (rahimahullah) and be wary of dubious dua’s and recitations, especially those with an alleged reward or benefit to the individual (like sins being forgiven, calamity/hardship being removed or protection from debt and poverty) and those that are allegedly to be recited a certain amount of times like 100 or 1000 times or even more, those which aren’t established and not reported in the Qur’an or Sunnah (authentic ahadith).
