Interesting Points and Observations Regarding the Reality of the Founder of Ikhwaan-ul-Muslimeen, his Da’wah, and How it Differs from the Salafi Creed and Methodology.

Shaykh Jamaaal bin Furayhaan Al-Haarithee رحمه الله mentioned the following:

“As for the Da’wah of the Ikhwaan-ul-Muslimeen, we must ask: Did its founder or any of his followers, up to this day, write even one book on Tawheed in which they clarified the Correct Creed? Did Hasan Al-Bannaa call to the sincere worship of Allaah and the elimination of Shirk in all of its various forms? Did he put an end to the shrines at the gravesites? Did he level (i.e. flatten) the tombs and prevent the graves of the righteous people from being used as means of getting near to Allaah as people claim? Did he establish the Sunnah??

All of these questions have no answer. But the answer lies with the one who knows the Creed of the Salaf and compares it to the call of the Ikhwaan-ul-Muslimeen, which is embodied in its founder, Hasan Al-Bannaa. This answer can also be found with the one who reads his books. And this answer is that he had no clear and firm call when it came to fighting against Shirk and innovations.

Hasan Al-Bannaa said: “ I accompanied the brothers of the Husaafee (Sufi) Order in Damanhour (Egypt) and devoted myself to the hadrah (gathering seeking presence of the Prophet) in Masjid At-Tawbah every night.” [Mudhakkiraat ad-Da’wah wad-Daa’ivah (pg. 24) of the Daar at-Tawzeeh Edition]

He also said in the same book (pg. 24): “Sayyid ‘Abdul-Wahhaab, the one who grants Ijaazah for the Husaafee (Sufi) Order, attended, and I learned the Husaafee Shadhlee (beliefs) from him. He granted me permission of its roles and duties.” He also said (pg. 28): “The days of Damanhour…were days of complete captivation within the Sufi mentality… So it was a period of time in which we were immersed in acts of worship and tasawwuf (i.e. Sufi Mysticism).” He also said (pg. 30): “During the many Fridays that we spent in Damnahoor, we would choose to go on a journey to visit (the graves of) one of the deceased righteous (awliyaa) from Damanhour. Sometimes we would go visit ad-Dasooqee, walking by foot right after the Morning Prayer until we would reach the site by about eight in the morning. So we would cover this distance, which was almost twenty kilometers, in three hours. And we would visit (the grave), pray Jumu’ah (Friday Prayer) there and then rest…And we would retrace our steps back to Damanhour.”

He also said (pg. 30): “And sometimes we would visit ‘Azbat-un-Nawaam, the place in whose cemetery is buried Shaikh Sayyid Sinjar, from the elite members of the Husafee Order who were known for their piety and righteousness. We would spend an entire day there, and then head back (home).”

And he said (pg. 52): “ I remember that it was from our customs that we would go out during the celebratory processions of the Prophet’s birthday after the hadrah every night from the first to the twelfth day of Rabee’-ul-Awwal And while we would be walking in the procession, we would chant the customary hymns with complete happiness and total joy !!!” One of the hymns he would chant was:

“This beloved one (i.e. Muhammad) along with his loved ones has attended And pardoned everyone of what they did and will do (of sins). ”

In the book “A Collection of Treatises of Hasan Al-Bannaa” (pg. 392), in the treatise “Instructions” under the heading “The Twenty Principles”, it states under the Fifteenth Principle: “ If the supplication is linked with seeking a means to Allaah through one of His creations, this matter is one of difference of opinion on a subsidiary issue related to the manner of performing supplication and it does not fall under one of the issues of Creed.”

I say: These quotes need no comment as the man was a Sufi, Husaafee, graveworshipper. He even gave the Prophet (ﷺ) Allaah’s Attribute of Forgiveness, not leaving any of that for Him. May Allaah be far removed from what they say!

In the treatises on “Creed” from the same book mentioned above (pg. 452), he said: “Research into the likes of this topic, i.e. the Names and Attributes of Allaah, no matter how long the talk concerning it goes on, it does not lead to anything in the end but one result, and that is: Tafweed (entrusting knowledge of the meaning of the Attribute) to Allaah!!” He said this under the heading: “The Madh-hab of the Salaf and the Khalaf with regard to Allaah’s Names and Attributes.”

I found some valuable and historical words of Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taimiyyah, may Allaah have mercy on him, in which he clarifies the state of the Mufawwidah , i.e. those who delegate knowledge of the meaning of the Attributes back to Allaah, and asserts that they are the worst form of innovators. In his book ” Dar’ Ta’aarud-ul-‘Aql wan-Naql” (vol. 1, pg. 201-205), he said: “As for Tafweed, then it is well known that Allaah has commanded us to reflect on the meanings of the Qur’aan. And He encouraged us to comprehend and understand it. So based on this, how can it be possible for Him to intend for us that we turn away from understanding, knowing, and comprehending it?” This is up to the point where he said: “So it becomes clear that the views of the people of Tafweed, who claim to be following the Sunnah and way of the Salaf, are from the worst views of the people of innovation and heresy.”

The Devil’s Deception of the Sufis

Chapter 11 of this classical work by Imaam Ibn Al-Jawzi (d. 597H, rahimahullaah) is very interesting. This traditional scholar and Shaykh refutes Sufism, highlighting how it is wrong, evil and a path of misguidance and deviation. The section starts from page 270 and ends page 506, so over 230 pages in total, a lengthy and detailed critique based upon knowledge and insight, alhamdulillah. Well worth a read for those seeking to be illuminated.

78. Be not like those who come out of their homes boastfully and to be seen of men, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah.[8:47]

79. Allah will never change a grace which He has bestowed on a people until they change what is in their ownselves.[8:53]

80. The worst of moving (living) creatures before Allah are those who disbelieve. [8:55]

81. It is not for the Mushrikun, to maintain the Mosques of Allah. [9:17]

82. They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allah’s Light (with which Muhammad ﷺ has been sent – Islamic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kafirun hate it.[9:32]

83. As-Sadaqat (i.e. Zakat) are only for 1) Fuqara’ (poor), 2) Al-Masakin (poor), 3) those employed to collect the funds, 4) to attract the hearts of those who’ve been inclined towards Islam, 5) to free captives, 6) for those in debt, 7) for Allah’s cause (i.e. for Mujahidun), and 8) for the wayfarer. [9:60]

84. Whoever opposes and shows hostility to Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ), certainly for him will be the Fire of Hell to abide therein. That is extreme disgrace. [9:63]

85. The hypocrites, men and women, are from one another. They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten them. [9:67]

86. It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allah’s Forgiveness for the Mushrikun even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief). [9:113]

87. Who does more wrong than he who forges a lie against Allah or denies His Ayat? Surely, the Mujrimun will never be successful! [10:17]

88. They worship besides Allah things that hurt them not, nor profit them, and they say: “These are our intercessors with Allah.” Say: “Do you inform Allah of that which He knows not in the heavens and on the earth?” Glorified and Exalted be He above all that which they associate as partners with Him! [10:18]

89. The recompense of an evil deed is the like thereof. [10:27]

90. Such is Allah, your Lord in truth. So after the truth, what else can there be, save error? How then are you turned away? [10:32]

91. Most of them follow nothing but conjecture. Certainly, conjecture can be of no avail against the truth. [10:36]

92. Truly! Allah wrongs not mankind in aught; but mankind wrong themselves. [10:44]

93. Be not one of those who belie the Ayat of Allah, for then you shall be one of the losers. [10:95]

94. If Allah touches you with hurt, there is none who can remove it but He; and if He intends any good for you, there is none who can repel His Favour which He causes it to reach whomsoever of His slaves He will. [10:107]

95. No (moving) living creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah. And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterous, grave, etc.). [11:6]

96. If We give man a taste of Mercy from Us, and then withdraw it from him, verily! He is despairing, ungrateful. [11:9]

97. Whosoever desires the life of the world and its glitter; to them We shall pay in full (the wages of) their deeds therein, and they will have no diminution therein. [11:15]

98. We wronged them not, but they wronged themselves. So their aliha (gods), other than Allah, whom they invoked, profited them naught when there came the Command of your Lord, nor did they add aught (to their lot) but destruction. [11:101]

99. On the Day when it comes, no person shall speak except by His (Allah’s) Leave. Some among them will be wretched and (others) blessed. [11:105]

100. As for those who are wretched, they will be in the Fire, sighing in a high and low tone. [11:106]

101. They will dwell therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills. Verily, your Lord is the doer of what He wills. [11:107]

102. And those who are blessed, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord will, a gift without an end. [11:108]

103. Incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped. [11:113]

104. Perform As-Salat at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night [i.e. 5 daily prayers]. The good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). [11:114]

105. To Allah belongs the Ghaib (unseen) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs (for decision). [11:123]

106. The command (or the judgement) is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him (i.e. His Monotheism), that is the (true) straight religion, but most men know not. [12:40]

107. And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly. [12:103]

108. And most of them believe not in Allah except that they attribute partners unto Him [i.e. they are Mushrikun]. [12:106]

109. It (the Qur’an) is not a forged statement but a confirmation of the Allah’s existing Books [the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel) and other Scriptures of Allah] and a detailed explanation of everything and a guide and a Mercy for the people who believe. [12:111]

110. Allah increases the provision for whom He wills, and straitens (it for whom He wills). [13:26]

111. Those who prefer the life of this world instead of the Hereafter, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah (i.e.Islam) and seek crookedness therein – They are far astray. [14:3]

112. The parable of those who disbelieve in their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a stormy day, they shall not be able to get aught of what they have earned. [14:18]

113. Allah will keep firm those who believe, with the word that stands firm in this world (i.e. they will keep on worshipping Allah Alone and none else), and in the Hereafter. [14:27]

114. Consider not that Allah is unaware of that which the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.) do, but He gives them respite up to a Day when the eyes will stare in horror. [14:42]

115. That Allah may requite each person according to what he has earned. Truly, Allah is Swift at reckoning. [14:51]

116. And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. [15:26]

117. And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. [15:27]

118. It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. [15:44]

119. He has created man from Nutfah (mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge), then behold, this same (man) becomes an open opponent. [16:4]

118. And the cattle, He has created them for you; in them there is warmth (warm clothing), and numerous benefits, and of them you eat. [16:5]

119. And (He has created) horses, mules and donkeys, for you to ride and as an adornment. And He creates (other) things of which you have no knowledge. [16:8]

120. He it is Who sends down water (rain) from the sky; from it you drink and from it (grows) the vegetation on which you send your cattle to pasture. [16:10]

121. He it is Who has subjected the sea (to you), that you eat thereof fresh tender meat (i.e. fish), and that you bring forth out of it ornaments to wear. [16:14]

122. He has affixed into the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you, and rivers and roads, that you may guide yourselves. [16:15]

123. Is then He, Who creates as one who creates not? Will you not then remember? [16:17]

124. If you would count the graces of Allah, never could you be able to count them. [16:18]

125. Allah knows what you conceal and what you reveal. [16:19]

126. Those whom they (Al-Mushrikun ) invoke besides Allah have not created anything, but are themselves created. [16:20]

127. (They are) dead, lifeless, and they know not when they will be raised up. [16:21]

128. Our Word unto a thing when We intend it, is only that We say unto it: “Be!” and it is. [16:40]

129. Do then those who devise evil plots feel secure that Allah will not sink them into the earth, or that the torment will not seize them from directions they perceive not? [16:45]

130. Whatever of blessings and good things you have, it is from Allah. Then, when harm touches you, unto Him you cry aloud for help. [16:53]

131. Then, when He has removed the harm from you, behold! Some of you associate others in worship with their Lord (Allah). [16:54]

132. In the cattle, there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, from between excretions and blood, pure milk; palatable to the drinkers. [16:66]

133. So put not forward similitudes for Allah (as there is nothing similar to Him, nor He resembles anything). Truly! Allah knows and you know not. [16:74]

134. When you want to recite the Qur’an, seek refuge with Allah from Shaitan (Satan), the outcast (the cursed one). [16:98]

135. Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ﷺ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. [16:125]

136. Allah is with those who fear Him (keep their duty unto Him), and those who are Muhsinun (good doers). [16:128]

137. This Qur’an guides to that which is most just and right. [17:9]

138. Whoever desires the Hereafter and strives for it, with the necessary effort due for it while he is a believer, then such are the ones whose striving shall be appreciated, thanked and rewarded (by Allah). [17:19]

139. And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour. [17:23]

140. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: “My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small.” [17:24]

141. Verily, spendthrifts are brothers of the Shayatin (devils), and the Shaitan (Devil – Satan) is ever ungrateful to his Lord. [17:27]

142. Give full measure when you measure, and weigh with a balance that is straight. That is good (advantageous) and better in the end. [17:35]

143. Follow not (O man i.e., say not, or do not or witness not, etc.) that of which you have no knowledge (e.g. one’s saying: “I have seen,” while in fact he has not seen, or “I have heard,” while he has not heard). [17:36]

144. Walk not on the earth with conceit and arrogance. Verily, you can neither rend nor penetrate the earth, nor can you attain a stature like the mountains in height. [17:37]

145. Your Lord knows you best, if He will, He will have mercy on you, or if He will, He will punish you. [17:54]

146. Whoever is blind in this world (i.e., does not see Allah’s Signs and believes not in Him), will be blind in the Hereafter, and more astray from the Path. [17:72]

147. Indeed We have fully explained to mankind, in this Qur’an, every kind of similitude, but most mankind refuse (the truth and accept nothing) but disbelief. [17:89]

148. We have put forth every kind of example in this Qur’an, for mankind. But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything. [18:54]

149. That shall be their recompense, Hell; because they disbelieved and took My Ayat and My Messengers by way of jest and mockery. [18:106]

150. It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son [this refers to the slander of Christians against Allah, by saying that ‘Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah]. Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). [19:35]

25 Prophets and 25 Other People Mentioned in the Qur’an

Note: This isn’t or may not be a complete list, as 25 other people conveniently matched 25 names of Prophets actually mentioned by name.

Khidr isn’t mentioned by name in the Qur’an, it is believed he is the one Mūsa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ spoke to due to some authentic hadiths mentioning Khidr by name referencing the incident where he killed a boy.

The Qur’an also mentions: “The wife of Al-‘Aziz” which has been added in the latest version.

Debunking the Claim that Ramadan is “just skipping a meal like lunch”

INTRODUCTION

Ramadan is not as is claimed by some: “Just skipping a meal like lunch”. There is much more to it, including a spiritual element (mentioned later in this response). Those who utter and spread such belittling statements are either a) ignorant of the teachings of Islam, in which case they are taught and then they retract after acknowledging their ignorance, or b) those who really know what the Ramadan fast entails but out of enmity, spite, rank hatred and jealousy seek to speak bad about it and attempt to undermine those who partake in it (and Islam in general) such as the likes of those who have an uncanny obsession with speaking evil against their former religion, with their unjust and dishonest accusations, mischievous machinations and fabrications.

WHAT FASTING ACTUALLY COMPRISES AND ENTAILS

Rather fasting in Ramadan is to refrain from the following between dawn to sunset each day for 29 or 30 days (as lunar month based):

– Food.

– Drink (which includes water, coffee and tea, etc.).

– Sexual intercourse.

– Smoking and vaping.

– Taking intoxicants and drugs.

– Lying, falsehood, vain speech and taking (unnecessary) oaths.

‘Umar ibn Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه said:

“Fasting isn’t merely withholding from food and drink alone, rather it is also withholding from lying, falsehood, vain speech and taking (unnecessary) oaths.”

Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, 2/272.

Some of the things listed (top three) are fine outside of the fasting period like (halaal) food, drink and sexual intercourse (with ones spouse), whereas other things (the last three) are prohibited outside of the fasting period anyway.

It also involves waking up early to consume the suhur (pre-dawn meal) in which there are blessings.

THE PURPOSE AND WISDOM BEHIND FASTING

The purpose and wisdom behind fasting are summarised below:

• At-Taqwa (piety and righteousness).

• Acknowledging the extent of the blessings of Allaah upon His slaves.

• Accustoming and nurturing oneself upon patience and forbearance.

• The rich person realizes and acknowledges the severe need of the poor.

• Restricting the pathways of the Shaytaan.

• A dietary restriction from causes of excessive bodily waste and fluids.

• That which occurs before and after (the fast) by way of worship of Allaah, i.e. taking the Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and Iftaar (breaking the fast) are acts of worship.

• Predominantly, those fasting spend (more) time engaging in worship.

• Conditioning the soul (to not have) arrogance and ingratitude.

• Reaching the level of Al-Ihsaan, which is that a person worships Allaah as though he sees Him, although we cannot see Him.

• The abundant reward that the fasting person obtains from fasting.

• Perfecting the (various) types of patience.

The first one, Taqwa, is the most important and based upon this clear verse in the Qur’an: “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous” [Al-Baqarah: 183] Above information taken from the booklet, 12 Wisdoms of Fasting by Abu ‘Inaayah Seif, OxfordSalafiDawah.

FASTING IN OTHER THAN RAMADAN

Islamic teachings state that Ramadan is not the only time Muslims are to fast, there are other recommended fasts (though not obligatory) which many millions of Muslims throughout the world carry out like:

• Six days in the month of Shawwal (the month after Ramadan).

• Day of Ashura – 10th of Muharram, which commemorates the day Allah saved Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) and his followers from their adversaries (Pharaoh and his group)

• Arafah – 9th of Dhul-Hijjah. Fasting this is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year.

• Mondays and Thursdays, fasting these two days of the week is a tradition of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) but which you’ll find majority of Muslims nowadays not undertaking for whatever reasons.

SCIENTIFICALLY BACKED KNOWN HEALTH BENEFITS

In terms of being good for your health then one of the wisdoms is a dietary restriction from causes of excessive bodily waste and fluids which is why some people’s health improves by way of fasting because the (excessive) fluids that form into flocculent masses then leak and come out (of the body), since the body weakens and dehydrates (causing) these (excessive bodily) fluids to leak (and be expelled). And within this is a tremendous benefit for the body, and this is something that is observed (and witnessed). [Taken from 12 Wisdoms of Fasting booklet by Oxford Salafi Dawah]

There are other benefits backed up by scientific studies like promoting blood sugar control, better fight against inflammation, boosting brain function, aiding weight loss, among other benefits. Refer to the following article for example:

Regardless of the health benefits, the principal reason for Muslims fasting is to obtain and increase ones Taqwa (piety and righteousness) by drawing closer to God through increased acts of worship, good deeds, devotion and servitude as well as greater thankfulness, praise, gratitude, and humility to God.
