Video description: Note: This short talk is based on a khutbah of Shaykh Fawzaan (hafidhahullah) and was translated and delivered by Ustadh Abu ‘Iyaad Amjad Rafiq (hafidhahullah) in Middlesbrough (UK) during Ramadaan 1428H (September 2007) which was uploaded sometime later.
The talk is concerning the caution or warning against following one’s desires. Allah sent Prophets and Messengers to show us path of goodness.
Everyone in their hearts has a (hawaa) desire which entices and moves them in certain directions.
On the authority of Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin ’Amr bin al-’Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “None of you [truly] believes until his desires are subservient to that which I have brought.”
[40 Hadith Nawawi, no. 41]
“So how then will it be when the angels take them (souls at death), striking their faces and their backs. This is because they followed that which angered Allah and they disliked his pleasure, so Allah made vain their actions.”
(Surah Muhammad, 27-28)
