Tawheed: We give priority to singling out Allaah alone for all worship (Tawheed al-Uloohiyah/Ibaadah) as well as learning the correct creed regarding Al-Asma was-Sifaat (the Names and Attributes of Allaah). As for Tawheed ar-Ruboobiyah (Lordship), then this should not be the focus because even the Mushriks at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) acknowledged that Allah was their Rabb.

The Conditions of Laa ilaha illallah - The Monotheistic Call of Prophet Noah (Peace be upon him) to his people
Shirk: We warn against Shirk and the avenues that lead to it, as well as the claims made by those who beautify it under various guises such as “Tawassul” (seeking a means of nearness to Allaah) and love for the Awliyaa, etc.

- The Worship of Allah is not Correct Except by Abandoning that which is Worshipped besides Him
- Clear Prohibition of Grave worship
Sunnah: We urge everyone to actually follow the Sunnah by giving preference to the authentic ahadith over one’s opinions and desires. And we warn from delving into Kalaam and Falsafa (Theological Rhetoric and Philosophy), and believing that to be a superior form of knowledge.

Bid’ah: We warn against Bid’ah (innovations in the Religion), just like our beloved Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) warned against it on numerous occasions since Bid’ah causes division, disunity, differences and splitting away from the Jamaa’ah.

The Jamaa’ah: We encourage everyone to stick to the Jamaa’ah (the unified body of Muslims upon the truth). And one should not necessarily rely on what the majority of the people are upon and use that as a hujjah (proof).
For more info please check out:

Sects and Parties: We believe that the existence of numerous sects, groups, parties and movements is not a good thing in the sense that with the people attaching themselves and affiliating themselves with various Jamaa’at, each holding variant and conflicting beliefs, this only causes disunity. Joining the Jamaa’ah, and sticking to it, whilst not departing from it by a handspan, is what will truly unite the Ummah, rectify their affairs and give the Muslims strength.

Aims of this Site
This site is focused on spreading the correct understanding of Islām, the Qur’ān and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salafus-Sālih (Pious Predecessors) for the benefit of the Teesside (Tees is short for Teesside, an area in the North East of England, UK) community and beyond to the wider world.
We aim to serve those people who sincerely want to learn about Islām, seeking a deeper understanding and acquiring beneficial knowledge so their faith and certainty is increased, Allāh willing.
We hope you derive benefit from this site (whether you’re a Muslim or a non-Muslim) which is intended to clear misunderstandings, doubts or misconceptions some people hold especially in light of the generally negative media coverage of Islām and Muslims, the rise of white supremacy and extreme right-wing ideology, Kharijite terrorists (al-Qaeda, ISIS, Boko Haram and other extremist groups) and their deviant ideology (often political), and widespread ignorance, falsehood, evil and deviation.
A large portion of the website contains reminders, clarifications, rebuttals and responses to various myths, stereotypes and shubuhāt (doubts), all from the knowledge-based speech of the Salafus-Sālih, ‘ulemā (the grounded scholars), students of knowledge and du’āt (callers to Islam), no matter how bitter or uncomfortable that may be to some but we hope is sweet and reassuring to others.
We’ve tried to make the site as informative and interesting as possible with the range and format of Islamic information presented.

Our Call to the Ummah
[1] : We believe in Allah and His Names and Attributes, as they were mentioned in the Book of Allah and in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم), without tahrif (distortion), nor ta’wil (figurative interpretation), nor tamthil (making a likeness), nor tashbih (resemblance), nor ta’til (denial).
[2] : We love the Companions (radiyallahu anhum) of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم), and we hate those who speak against them. We believe that to speak ill of them is to speak ill of the Religion, because they are the ones who conveyed it to us. And we love the Family of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) with love that is permitted in the Shari’ah. ‘Imran Ibn Husayn (radiyallahu anhu) said, “O people! Learn the knowledge of the Religion from us, if you do not do so, then you will certainly be misguided.” [Refer to al-Kifayah (p.15) of al-Khatib al-Baghdadi]
[3] : We love the People of Hadith and all of the Salaf of the Ummah from Ahlus-Sunnah. Imam Shatibi (d.790) – rahimahullah – said, “The Salafus-Salih, the Companions, the tabi’in and their successors knew the Qur’an, its sciences and its meanings the best.” [Refer to al-Muwafiqat (2/79) of ash-Shatibi]
[4] : We despise ‘ilmul-kalam (knowledge of theological rhetoric), and we view it to be from amongst the greatest reasons for the division in the Ummah.
[5] : We do not accept anything from the Books of fiqh (jurisprudence), nor from the Books of tafsir (explanation of the Qur’an), nor from the ancient stories, nor from the Sirah (biography) of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), except that which has been confirmed from Allah or from His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم). We do not mean that we have rejected them, nor do we claim that we are not in need of them. Rather, we benefit from the discoveries of our Scholars and the jurists and other than them. However, we do not accept a ruling, except with an authentic proof.
[6] : We do not write in our Books, nor do we cover in our lessons, nor do we give sermons with anything except the Qur’an, or the authentic and authoritative hadith. And we detest what emanates from many Books and admonishers in terms of false stories and weak and fabricated ahadith. ‘Abdullah Ibnul Mubarak (d. 181H) – rahimahullah – said, “The authentic ahadith are sufficient and the weak ahadith are not needed.” [Refer to al-Jami’ li-Akhlaqir-Rawi (2/159) of as-Suyuti]
[7] : We do not perform takfir upon any Muslim due to any sin, except Shirk with Allah, or the abandonment of the Prayer, or apostacy. We seek refuge in Allah from that.
[8] : We believe that the Qur’an is the Speech of Allah, it is not created.
[9] : We hold that our obligation is to co-operate with the group that traverses the methodology of the Book and the Sunnah, and what the Salaf of the Ummah were upon; in terms of calling to Allah the Glorified, and being sincere in worship of Him, and warning from Shirk, innovations, and disobedience, and to advise all of the groups that oppose this.’ [From a fatwa by the Committee of Major Scholars dated : 11/16/1417H, (no. 18870). It was signed by al-‘Allamah ‘Abdul-‘Aziz Ibn Baz, Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Aziz ibn ‘Abdullah alush-Shaykh, Shaykh ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Abdur-Rahman al-Ghudayyan, Shaykh Bakr Ibn ‘Abdullah Abu Zayd, and Shaykh Salih Ibn Fawzan al-Fawzan.] So cooperating upon righteousness and piety (taqwa) and mutual advising necessitates warning against evil and not cooperating with the wicked.’ [From the words of Shaykh Ibn Baz in al-Furqan magazine (issue no. 14, p. 15]
[10] : We do not deem it correct to revolt against the Muslim rulers as long as they are Muslims, nor do we feel that revolutions bring about reconciliation. Rather, they corrupt the community.
[11] : We hold that the multiplicity of present day parties is a reason for the division of the Muslims and their weakness. So therefore we set about ‘freeing the minds from the fetters of blind-following and the darkness of sectarianism and party spirit.’ [From Fiqhul-Waqi’ (p. 49) of Al-Albani]
[12] : We restrict our understanding of the Book of Allah and of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) to the understanding of the Salaf of the Ummah from the Scholars of hadith, not the blind-followers of their individuals. Rather, we take the truth from wherever it comes. And we know that there are those who claim Salafiyyah, yet Salafiyyah is free from them, since they bring to the society what Allah has prohibited. We believe in ‘cultivating the young generation upon this Islam, purified from all that we have mentioned, given to them a correct Islamic education from the start – without any influence from the disbelieving western education.’ [From Fiqhul-Waqi’ (p. 51) of Al-Albani]
[13] : We believe that politics is a part of the Religion, and those who try to seperate the Religion from politics are only attempting to destroy the Religion and to spread chaos.
[14] : We believe there will be no honour or victory for the Muslims until they return to the Book of Allah and to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam).
[15] : We oppose those who divide the Religion into trivialities and important issues. And we know that this is a destructive da’wah.
[16] : We oppose those who put down the knowledge of the Sunnah, and say that this is not the time for it. Likewise, we oppose those who put down acting upon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam).
[17] : Our da’wah and our aqidah is more beloved to us than our own selves, our wealth and our offspring. So we are not prepared to part with it for gold, nor silver. We say this so that no one may have hope in buying out our da’wah, nor should he think that it is possible for him to purchase it from us for dinar or dirham.
[18] : We love the present day Scholars of the Sunnah and hope for benefit from them and regret the passing away of many of them. Imam Malik said (d. 179H) – rahimahullah, “The knowledge of hadith is your flesh and blood and you will be asked concerning it on the Day of Judgement, so look who you are taking it from.” [Refer to al-Muhaddithul-Fasil (p. 416) and al-Kifayah (p.21) of al-Khatib]
[19] : We do not accept a fatwa except from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam).
These are the glimpses into our ‘aqidah and our da’wah. So if one has any objection to his, then we are prepared to accept advise if it is truthful, and to refute it if it is erroneous, and to avoid it if it is stubborn rejection. And Allah knows best.
[Summarized from Tarjumah Abi ‘Abdur-Rahman Muqbil Ibn Hadi al-Wadi’i (p. 135-142) of Muqbil Ibn Hadi with minor additions from other sources]

As’salaamu alaykum, Nice website keep up the good work!!! JazaakAllahu khayr
Salam alaikum,
Great website, but what does “Teesside community” mean?
JazakhAllah kheir for spreading good knowledge.
Salam alaikum
Nuha
FAO: Nuha
It just means that the site is by Muslims who are from the Teesside area (i.e North-east England). However, anyone may benefit from it insha’Allah.
Whatever is not classed as haraam is halaal. Love for the Awliya is therefore not Shirk nor is it Bidah, nor is Tasawuf , Astagfirullah, May Allah swt lead you all on the right path.
What you’ve stated is just an opinion and view with no proof or daleel (evidence). Too many people unfortunately fall into this trap of believing in statements that may appear to be logical and rational arguments but which upon closer examination turn out to be flawed, flimsy, erroneous or truth by which falsehood is intended.
We don’t deny love for the awliyaa’ (close allies of Allaah), foremost amongst them the Prophets and Messengers of Allaah (peace be upon them all). Also, we don’t deny miracles of the Awliyaa’ (al-karaamaat), such as the staff of Moosaa (alaihis-salaam) and ‘Eesaa (alaihis-salaam) giving life to the dead and curing the sick and the lepers (by the permission of Allah). However, we must remain balanced upon our love for the awliyaa and not go to extremes like the Jews and Christians did with Jesus and Uzayr (Ezra).
Concerning the following hadith narrated by Abdullāh Ibn ‘Abbās ( رضي الله عنه ):
“Beware of extremism in religion because the only thing that destroyed those before you was extremism in religion.” [Recorded by al-Nasāī (Sunan al-Nasāī al-Kubrá, 2/435, no. 4049) and Ibn Mājah (Sunan Ibn Mājah, 2/1008, no. 3029). The actual wording is that of al-Nasāī and the ḥadīth’s chain of narrators is authentic.]
Shaykh ‘Alī Ibn Yaḥyá al-Ḥaddādī (note this not the individual to whom the Haddaadee sect is ascribed to, that is an individual by the name of Mahmood al-Haddaad) mentioned:
“The prophet ( صلّى الله عليه وسلّم ) explained that the very thing that destroyed the nations before us was religious extremism. From his detailed explanations, he explained that the destruction of Nūḥ’s (Noah’s) people was their going to extremes with regards to past righteous people so much so that they eventually began worshipping them. And the Jews were destroyed because of their extremism regarding ‘Uzayr and the calf (eventually worshipping them), their extremism regarding their neglect and belittling of religion so much so that they killed prophets and changed and distorted religious texts. The reason for the Christians’ destruction was their extremism regarding ‘Īsá, the son of Maryam and his mother (Mary), (eventually worshipping them) and their innovating and fabricating of religious rites and acts of worship for which Allah never authorized. And the reason for the destruction of most of those destroyed from our nation is also extremism: extremism in issues of Allah’s names and characteristics, extremism regarding righteous people, or going to extremes in matters of passing judgment of people, etc. And there are many other ways leading to destruction which originate from extremism: either by excessiveness or negligence (in religion).”
[For more details please refer to the article/PDF, forbiddance and danger of extremism]
So going to extremes in loving the righteous dead is an avenue to Shirk, which is why whatever leads to Shirk (e.g. making statues or images of righteous dead people to remember them, building shrines over graves and intending to specifically travel to them, taking them as places of festivity and gathering and swearing an oath by the inmate of a grave) has been prohibited in and of itself.
Please read the following posts for additional clarification:

4) The Four Rules regarding Shirk
http://islamtees.wordpress.com/2011/06/13/the-four-rules-regarding-shirk/
Jundub reported:
I heard from the Prophet of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) five days before his death and he said: I stand acquitted before Allaah that I took any one of you as friend, for Allaah has taken me as His friend, as he took Ibrahim as His friend. Had I taken any one of my Ummah as a friend, I would have taken Abu Bakr as a friend. BEWARE of those who preceded you and used to take the graves of their prophets and righteous men as places of worship, but YOU MUST NOT take graves as mosques; I FORBID YOU to do that.
[Sahih Muslim, The Book of Prayer (04), Chapter: Forbiddance to build mosques on the graves and decorating them with pictures and forbiddance to use the graves as mosques, No. 1083]
Also, remember it is “You (Alone) we worship and You (Alone) we ask for Help”. [Surah al-Fatihah verse 4]
And we ask Allaah that he guide us and you to the Straight Way, not the way of those who earned His Anger or who went astray (such as the Jews and Christians). Ameen.
Can I ask who is Islam Tees? Is it a person/persons? I understand in the deen we need to use our real names? I cant find it on your website
